Volunteering with ShelterBox
Volunteers are vital to ShelterBox.
They raise funds, support our teams at Truro HQ, tell everyone they can about what we do, and deliver aid to the people who need it. Find out more about the great work our volunteers are doing.
Take a look below at the current opportunities to get involved.
We always need help raising funds so that we can deliver life-changing aid to more people, and there are so many creative ways to do it. To find out more, visit our fundraising page.
Based outside of the UK?
If you are not based in the UK but would like to find out if there are volunteer roles available in your country, please take a look at our affiliates.
Because of Covid-19, we have temporarily suspended all recruitment to volunteer roles (including the ones listed below). In the meantime, thank you for your interest and please visit this page again.
We are looking for volunteers who will give a warm welcome to everyone who walks into ShelterBox, or everyone who contacts us by phone.
Visitor centre volunteer
Join a team of inspirational and enthusiastic volunteers at ShelterBox Disaster Relief Visitor Centre in Truro.
As a visitor centre volunteer, you’ll be a part of a team telling our story and raising awareness about ShelterBox’s work in disaster relief around the world.
You’ll be confident with the public, welcoming, friendly and able to ask visitors to support us through making a donation or regular giving. You’ll have access to regular updates on our deployments and you’ll receive induction and training to ensure you feel confident in all aspects of the work of the charity.
Emergency team volunteers
When disasters – like Cyclone Idai in Malawi, Mozambique and Zimbabwe – strikes, many more people than usual want to donate to us.
The phone rings off the hook, and there are mountains of post arriving daily.
We want everyone to know about the more than 104 million people made homeless by natural disaster and conflict.
By raising awareness, we also raise money which helps us bring shelter to people who are left with nothing.
We need people who will spread the word about ShelterBox in their local community, through face-to-face contact and social media.
We are currently looking for Brand Ambassadors based in and around Birmingham where we’ll be working to build support and awareness, culminating in the Volunteer Expo at the NEC in May. Read the full description here and use the application form above to apply.
ShelterBox supporter panel
ShelterBox Supporter Panel is an online meeting that takes place every 4-6 weeks.
Panellists are invited to review a key aspect of ShelterBox’s communications –such as fundraising campaigns, newsletters, branding and design – and offer feedback and suggestions for improvement.
The Supporter Panel is how we can make sure we’re getting the full attention of as many people as possible, and to do that we need your help.
If you would like to find out more, contact [email protected].
