We invite you to join us at Bosvigo House, just a stone’s throw from our HQ in Truro to celebrate Hellebore day with one of our most dedicated supporters, Wendy Perry.

Wendy opens her doors every year to sell Hellebore’s, a beautiful primrose-like flower that she grows herself.

Her home at Bosvigo is surrounded by a well-loved two-acre garden which plays host to the West Country’s foremost collection of these woodland beauties.

It’s the ultimate Cornish event – spectacular flowers that love the county’s gentle climate, scrumptious cream teas and Cornish pasties. And, of course, it’s not a proper fundraising event unless there is a ShelterBox tent on the front lawn!

It is also a serious and poignant reminder of how natural disaster can affect us all. Wendy’s daughter Hannah Perry tragically lost her life in the Boxing Day tsunami in 2004 and Hellebore Day has been run every year since in her honour.

The event is both the start of the spring calendar for many of us in Cornwall and a celebration of Hannah. It is a day of joy but also of remembering which makes it an important event and fundraiser for us at ShelterBox.

Hellebore Day has taken on a life of its own. I know my daughter would have wholeheartedly supported it as I do… I look forward with great pride to welcoming all our loyal supporters again this year.

– Wendy
