It’s fantastic that you’re fundraising for ShelterBox!
Fundraisers like you play a crucial part in our work to support families after disaster, so we want to do whatever we can to support you.
Here are some of the most asked questions we get about fundraising for ShelterBox. If you still have a question about your fundraising, please do get in touch by contacting our supporter care team on [email protected] or calling 0300 0300 500.

Does ShelterBox have allocated places in organised events such as London Marathon?
No, big challenge events cost us as a charity quite a lot of money so we’re not doing these at the moment.
However, if you want to take part in a big challenge event and fundraise for ShelterBox you will need to secure your place through a ballot entry, and we can support you through your fundraising journey. Get in touch if this is the case.
Do you have any campaigns I can join?
Yes, take a look at Shine for ShelterBox and Give a Tent for Lent.
How can I cover the cost of my fundraising event?
There are lots of ways you can get your fundraising started, and it doesn’t have to cost! Local companies can sponsor your event, donate goods or lend you their services for free. Take a look at our, ‘how to run an event’ guide for simple ways to keep costs low. [link to document]
If you are using money you fundraised to cover the costs of your activity, make sure this is very clear to everyone who has donated. Please note this means you can’t claim gift aid on any of your donations.

Do you have a small description of ShelterBox I can share with pictures?
We’re ShelterBox. We provide emergency shelters, tools and other essentials so families can rebuild after disaster.
We work with people all over the world who’ve lost their homes to all kinds of disasters – floods, earthquakes, hurricanes or conflicts. We go where people are vulnerable, so you’ll often find us in challenging places that are overlooked by others. But wherever we are, we know one thing is always true: hope grows when you have a place to call home.
Can I have ShelterBox branded materials like collections boxes, T-shirts and leaflets?
Yes, of course! We have a variety of resources we can send you. Please email [email protected] with the items you require and the size of your event. You can request stickers, posters, a collection box, bambam sticks, gift aid envelopes, sponsor forms, pin badges, case studies from the families we work with, and flyers.
We have different flyers depending on your audience, for example: Rotary, general, or youth-specific flyers.
Clothing is also available to you, so you can request a T-shirt, a tri-suit or a cycling jersey. Please let us know your size!
