Let us inspire you
Stuck for ideas? Don't worry. Our fundraisers are bursting with plans to create exciting activities, like these:
Donate your birthday presents
If you have a special occasion coming up, ask friends and family to donate money in lieu of gifts or flowers. You can gather money by hand, set up a fundraising page or use the fundraising tool on Facebook. Estimate £50-300
Tidy up and cash in
Clear out your clutter and raise some money at the same time by running a jumble sale in your community, or attending a boot fair and donating the proceeds to ShelterBox. Estimate £50-100
Challenge your friends and family to a bake-off and sell cakes and treats at work or at a party. You can award prizes for the fanciest or tastiest cake. Estimate £50-100
Sell your wares
It’s not just cakes, we’ve had people selling jam, homegrown vegetables, eggs, flowers, home-made cards and second-hand books. Estimate £30-150
Offer your services
Our fundraisers have washed cars, served food, fetched groceries and packed bags at supermarkets in order to raise funds. Some children even do chores and donate their pocket money. Estimate £50-100
Hold a quiz at home, in your local community or get your local pub on board. Quizzes are irresistible especially if there's a prize at stake, and you can throw in a raffle too! We even have a ShelterBox quiz you can use! Estimate £100-500
If you’re a musician, put on a benefit gig. If you’re a writer or poet, host a reading night with fellow performers and sell tickets. If you’re into amateur dramatics, put on a show and donate ticket sales. Estimate £100-300
Think you can manage without your phone for 24 hours? Think you could live in a tent for a week? Get cracking! Not every challenge has to be a marathon. Estimate £10-100
Fundraising for ShelterBox can be a great way to build relationships within your teams, boost morale and have fun. We can help you plan unique fundraising events at your workplace. Estimate £100-500

LET EMILY INSPIRE YOU
Through wind and rain, along muddy towpaths, and up steep gradients, 10-year-old Emily kept on cycling, taking on a west to east coast cycling challenge over two-weeks, cycling 488 miles from Land’s End to Lowestoft, raising over £6,500 for ShelterBox.
10-year-old Emily Read from Exeter, decided to fundraise for us after being inspired by visiting our ShelterBox stand at the Devon County Show.
HOW TO FUNDRAISE
Make a plan
Try and think of something that is both impressive and achievable. Think about whether you want to do it alone or in a team. Consider whether you want to sign up to a pre-existing event, like the Brighton Marathon, or run your own, like a pub quiz or a sponsored sporting challenge.
Set a date that doesn’t clash with other events or busy periods in the year. Then decide on how much you want to raise. Don’t be afraid to think big!
Shout about what you’re doing at any available opportunity. Use posters, emails, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to let everyone know how they can get involved. You may also want to set up an online fundraising page so that people can donate at their convenience, direct from social media and from anywhere in the world.
We can provide lots of materials to support you, like sponsor forms and legal advice (where necessary). Fill in the form below to ask for resources.
Request a speaker
If you’re hosting an event, such as a quiz or cake sale, bring the story of your fundraising to life by inviting a ShelterBox speaker to your event. You can experience our aid for yourself and your supporters will find out how their money can transform the lives of families robbed of shelter when disaster strikes. Book a speaker here.
Don't forget to have some fun! Celebrate your achievement, toast your success!
Thank your supporters
Everyone who donates, takes part or turns up at your event to help cheer you on, will be making a huge difference to families who are utterly overwhelmed by disaster. Those families won’t be able to send their thanks personally, so once you’ve counted up your donations, make sure you do it for them.
After your event, you can send in the money you've raised quickly and easily. Close your online fundraiser page, send in your cash donations online, over the phone or send us a cheque by post, it's up to you. Take a look at all the ways you can pay in here.
