ShelterBox on show at the Kings Langley Carnival
ShelterBox on show at the Kings Langley Carnival President Malcolm Jones of the Rotary Club of Watford

The iconic green ShelterBox and its contents were displayed among classic cars, Cuban dancing and karate lessons on Saturday June 19, at the popular Kings Langley carnival in Hemel Hempstead.

The Rotary Club of Watford was asked to help on the day, and Malcolm Jones, Mike Lewis and Mike Gardner responded to the ShelterBox call, also on hand to help was Geoff Budd of the Berkhamstead and Bulbourne Rotary Club.

However, few adults had heard of ShelterBox, but many of their children had, giving them the chance to proudly show off their knowledge to their parents.

Young ShelterBox’s Emma Nicholls was proud to hear how the children of Hemel Hempstead were so knowledgeable about the work that ShelterBox do: 'It's great that the Young ShelterBox team's educational message is also being recognised by the parents of the children at the Kings Langley carnival.'

A jam-packed afternoon of events ensued at the carnival including a jazz band, choir and children;s entertainment. This year the Carnival was opened by special guest and former Watford and England manager, Graham Taylor, who said it was nice to be back in Kings Langley.

Among the visitors to Shelterbox at the Carnival were Mike Penning, MP for Hemel Hempstead and his wife, shown round by Celia Hodnett, President of the Watford and the Langleys Rotary Club.
