In May and June 2006 ShelterBox sent 1,000 boxes to Java to help those made homeless after a devestating earthquake hit the Indonesian island.  It was estimated that over 250,000 were left without shelter after the disaster struck.  ShelterBox's work in Java was praised by the UK's ambassador in Java, Charles Humfrey who described ShelterBox's tents as 'invaluable'.
