ShelterBox responded immediately to the devastating Cyclone Nargis that hit Myanmar in May 2008. 22,500 lives were reported to have been lost, plus 41,000 missing and 95% of houses destroyed.

ShelterBox was one of the first Aid organisations to enter the country after successfully obtaining visas from the Embassy.  We worked closely with local authoriteis as Cornish fireman, and SRT leader Ian Neal created a ‘train the trainer’ session with the Burmese fire services

The majority of the ShelterBox tents were used in the two worst hit disaster areas of Labutta & Bogale.
