Raise vital funds for ShelterBox

ShelterBox aims to support Rotarians, Rotary Clubs and any Rotary groups that wish to fundraise for ShelterBox.

We know that everyone likes to engage with ShelterBox in different ways, so we’ve developed a few ideas and resources to inspire your club, district and wider community.

These resources offer a chance to get together and raise vital funds and awareness of both ShelterBox and the Rotary Project Partnership we share. There is something for all clubs big and small.

Shine for ShelterBox

Shine for ShelterBox and change lives around the world.

When disaster strikes, families flee their homes in search of a safer place. That can often mean an overcrowded space with no electricity. Having somewhere dry and warm to sleep, to prepare meals and be with your family is vital for starting the long process of recovery.

As winter brings shorter days and nights, solar lights help families to re-establish their normal routine and can help transform a shelter into a home.

Host a Shine for ShelterBox dinner with winter to support families after disaster with solar lights, emergency shelter and other essential items.

Download our Shine for ShelterBox flyer to find out how to get started.

We had a lot of fun on our wine and cheese Shine evening. It was a great social for many club members, their partners and friends. Social, Rotary awareness and ‘doing good in the world’ by supporting ShelterBox – What could be better?

Luminaid fundraising programme

The LuminAID solar light is one of the many innovative aid items that we send to families around the world. The solar light can last up to 16 hours on one charge, they are lightweight and can float on water, making them easy to carry in any situation.

LuminAID is proud to offer discounted pricing on their various solar lights to ShelterBox supporters to support your fundraising and events.

LuminAID has three pre-set fundraising packages that make it easy for Rotary groups to start fundraising. If you don’t have the funds for an upfront purchase of a fundraising package we recommend buying individual solar lights to collect orders before returning to purchase a larger package.

Please note that orders placed through this program should only be used for advocacy and fundraising to support ShelterBox. You are responsible for collecting funds and directly making a donation to ShelterBox.

For more information or to order a fundraising package please visit LuminAID here.

Off the grid

When disasters strike and power lines go down, families are left vulnerable, robbed of comfort, light and electricity.

Off the Grid challenges you to go without power for 24 hours to understand some of the impacts of disasters on families around the world.

This campaign is great for individual Rotarians and their families or Interact and Rotaract clubs looking for a way to fundraise for ShelterBox!

Rotary district challenge

The Rotary District Challenge is a global challenge for Rotary Districts who fundraise for ShelterBox.

Take on the challenge

The challenge is simple, encourage every club in your District to support ShelterBox. No matter how large or small, every donation makes a difference in providing shelter to families worldwide.

Why we need your support

Shelter is more than just a roof – it’s a home. It’s the foundation for life, for families, for communities, for peace. ShelterBox responds 365 days a year. Rotary Clubs around the world make it possible for us to ensure that no family is left without shelter.

In appreciation

Upon completion of the challenge, your district support will be acknowledged with: a listing on the ShelterBox website, at International Convention and at International Assembly.

Youth exchange fundraising

The ShelterBox Youth Exchange Challenge is an exciting opportunity for students to support a Rotary Project Partner and make a real difference to communities across the globe who have lost everything. The challenge is simple:

  • Spread the word: Give a presentation on ShelterBox. This could be to your host Rotary Club, a school, or a group such as Scouts.
  • Fundraise: Fundraise for ShelterBox. Any amount will help contribute to needed ShelterBox aid that will help ensure no family goes without shelter.

By supporting ShelterBox as part of your exchange program, students will be helping us ensure that no family goes without shelter after a disaster. The donations that we receive from young people embarking on this adventure will fund ShelterBox aid for years to come.
